Béla Feldberg’s series of photos are from a month-long trip to Japan and his first time in the country. Born in 1992 in Frankfurt, the photographer’s fascination with Japan and Japanese culture began at an early age when he would receive things from an aunt that lived there. Feldberg’s photos focus on night life, self-indulgence and a seemingly self-destructive extravagance. With his series on Japan, the German photographer said he was drawn to the idea of superficiality especially amongst Japanese youth. In 2014, Feldberg published a photo magazine in newspaper form entitled “Don't Wake Up the Ghost” which captures the night scene in Frankfurt over the course of four years. Feldberg currently lives and works in Frankfurt.
