Boys in Love

Boys in Love

Photographer Edrien Guillermo merges text through the words of Peter Erick Garcia and his own photography making the photo series ‘Boys in Love’. Together they have created a photo series capturing the concept of love and sex, as equals and as opposites. Examining the many facets of masculine intimacy, without being pornographic, nor vulgar, ‘Boys in Love’ challenges how we perceive love, feelings, touch and sexuality.

The models appear as silhouettes, all indicating or expressing a moment of complete intimacy. Whether in a sexual, or an emotional state - the imagery is juxtaposed with fragments of text that corresponds to the almost still life images of men in one of the many stages of love. The facial outlines and emotion of the faces shot in ‘Boys in Love’ feels familiar, like a familiar intimate act or a fragment of one - evoking distant and personal memories for the viewer of intimate settings between two people in love.

Have you ever had a love dream?
Boys in love, love in boys. It is not dirty, it is not porn, it is just jove. Sometimes people thinks sexual freedom is not a right, but they are wrong… Wrong about the sense of life.

Why love someone how they told us to love?
It is not a reality but a prejudiced concept. Try to love someone as if you were alone in the world.  Stroking feelings, touching emotions, sucking love. Moan with a joy in front of everybody, because everyone would want to do that but not everyone has the courage.
