Meinsma went into this project free of preconceived ideas regarding the models he would cast for this shoot. His vision was to capture unique characters who were not afraid to stand out independently, and who also happened to be elderly. Celebrating diversity in its entirety, Harmen Meinsma questions why the elderly are not perceived to be sexy or powerful past a certain age threshold placed upon them by the media. Providing a platform for three industry professionals to display their talents once more, “Elderly Heros” pays homage to the many creatives who paved the way.
