In the past few years, fashion and sportswear have become more and more synonymous. With luxury fashion houses venturing into the world of trainers, lycra and bum bags, and sportswear brands like Puma and Adidas showing their celebrity collaborations at fashion week, fashion and sportswear have fully embraced each other. This Sunday at Milan Fashion Week, Fila joined the ranks In their debut stand alone fashion show since their origin in 1911.
The iconic sportswear brand featured many references to their heritage while also bringing the brand into future. While staying true to its origins with tennis shoes and hoodies, Fila also introduced new elements like PVC ponchos and more structured tailoring. Taking their activewear history and refining and exaggerating details made for an exciting and unexpected collection. Fila has always managed to keep up with the times and based on this show its clear that they will continue to move with the changing fashion world. Hopefully Fila’s debut collection will be the first of many exciting and fresh seasons to come.
