Graduate of Central Saint Martins, Hanna Moon has been distinguishing herself in the photography and fashion world. Known for her use of regular people as subjects in her photography rather than conventional models, the Britain-based photographer has shot for Stussy, Dazed & Confused, and several other publications.
Moon’s photography offers glimpses of daily life of another — a subject that we do not have full access to, yet can simultaneously observe. Just as the subjects are absorbed in the everyday routine of their life, we are absorbed with the small details Moon focuses on.
The bright colors so eminent in her work provide an eerie, ethereal effect through the distance between subject and gazer. Rather than assuming a voyeuristic gaze, we are invited to appreciate the compelling window Moon provides us with.
