Kalen Hollomon
Mixed media artist Kalen Holloman was born in Arcata, California in 1980. He currently lives and works in New York. Hollomom creates mixed media and collage works that involve magazine cutouts superimposed on iPhone photographs. He has collaborated with Vogue in the past and attributes his popularity to social media networks such as Instagram and Twitter. His work plays with notions of sexuality, high fashion, consumerism, and erotica. He explains that, more than anything, his images are meant to capture beauty and question our perceptions and awareness. His images portray a warped, but idyllic reality depicting the carnal in a romantic manner and display amorphous gender identities. Initially playful and cheeky, Hollomon’s works break down societal constructs and create a world where the deviant is not only accepted, but celebrated as well.
