Shunji Iwai

Two young girls become enamoured by a dreamy boy they see on the subway. They sneak pictures of him whenever he passes, until the moment arises for one of them to pursue him, only for the other to look on from afar.

When Hana (Anne Suzuki) sees Masashi (Tomohiro Kaku) bang his head on a garage door, she convinces him he has amnesia, in a ploy to make him her boyfriend. This alienates her from her best friend Alice (Yū Aoi), who in the meantime concentrates on her new commercial modelling career. The two reunite when Hana needs to convince Masashi that Alice is his ex—girlfriend.

The two girls frolic around with the boy repeating “Do you remember?” in places they apparently visited prior to his faux-amnesia. He falls deeper and deeper into a confused state while the playful girls spin him in circles.Shunji Iwai’s film is a hilarious chick-flick which is easy to watch. Although the girls are smitten by Masashi, the admirable friendship that Hana and Alice have is much more precious.
