Photographer Julien Boudet and Parisian stylist Vanille Verloes joined forces on a journey around Taipei, documenting its unique architectural feats and urban developments through a striking fashion story. The series plays with the idea of duality and balance in both humans and architecture, ultimately exploring the familiarity between mankind and man-made.
Vanille and her friend, Marie disguised themselves as twins in matching outfits, in hues and shapes that complemented the architecture of the city. Metallic silvers, brick-browns and aubergine tones reflect the mood of the surrounding cityscape. Silhouettes are voluminous and powerful, paralleling the buildings that the twins are set against. Functional headwear pieces serve as playful reminders of contemporary living.
There is a hidden beauty in the urban landscape that is uncovered through the story. Boudet captures perfectly the strength and poise of the near-identical female figures as they explore Taiwan’s capital as familiar strangers.
