Vesper Milano Atelier on Foro Buonaparte hosts Campo di Soglia, a sonic and botanical installation by Milan-based sound artist and performer Alberto Anhaus. The title translates as “threshold field”, and the room takes it literally. A raised bed of dark earth fills the space, with small clusters of grass and sprouts catching the only light.
Bare speaker cones hang from the ceiling on their cables, facing down toward the soil. Sound falls on the plants from above, the way a grow lamp delivers light. Anhaus trained as a percussionist, and his recent live work pairs a drum kit with a no-input mixer and feedback loops, an instrument set he treats as an ecosystem. Here the ecosystem is a living one.
The installation closes on Sunday 4 October with a finissage from 5pm to 7pm. Anhaus performs at 6pm, the one chance to hear him play inside the field.
