On 12 August, Smekkleysa marks its 40th anniversary with a one day festival in Víðistaðatún, Hafnarfjörður, timed to coincide with Iceland's total solar eclipse. The programme includes DJ sets by Björk, Arca, Ronja, Sideproject, with additional artists to be announced.
The event also coincides with Björk's exhibition at the National Gallery of Iceland, where Ancestress, Sorrowful Soil, and a new work from her forthcoming album are presented on a theatrical scale. Admission to the exhibition and a pair of certified solar eclipse glasses are included with every festival ticket.
