The Hybrid Nexus CERN Art and Science Summit 2026

  • CERN CERN Science Gateway, Geneva, Switzerland (map)

For its third edition, the CERN Art and Science Summit takes its title from a meeting point. The Hybrid Nexus looks at where particle physics, quantum technologies and artificial intelligence cross paths, and at what happens when that crossing reaches the studio, the gallery and the lecture hall. Arts at CERN, the Laboratory’s arts programme, curates the gathering at the CERN Science Gateway in Geneva.

The starting point comes from mathematician and philosopher Norbert Wiener, who saw the “boundary regions of science” as the richest ground for research. The Summit takes that idea at its word and puts artists, scientists, creative technologists and thinkers on the same stage.

Thursday evening opens with keynotes in the Auditorium Sergio Marchionne. Theoretical physicist Sabrina Gonzalez Pasterski shares the programme with curators Daniel Birnbaum and Marta Kuzma, artists Wendi Yan and Robin Meier Wiratunga, and CERN researchers Maurizio Pierini and Sofia Vallecorsa. Talks run in English with simultaneous French interpretation.

Friday goes deeper. Lectures, roundtables and open-floor discussions fill the day, with Daniel van der Velden and Vinca Kruk of Metahaven, Declan Colquitt of Moth Quantum, artists Rosa Barba, Dominique Koch, Martyna Marciniak and Amanda E. Metzger, curator Lívia Nolasco-Rózsás, Carly Whitefield of LAS Art Foundation, MIM director Enrique Rivera Gallardo, ETH Zurich physicist Puneet Anantha Murthy and CERN accelerator physicist Verena Kain. The afternoon closes with two film premieres by Dominique Koch and Marion Tampon-Lajarriette.

Both days are free with registration: a rare chance to hear CERN physicists and contemporary artists think out loud in the same room.
