Let me style you for 1€

Javier is always a few steps ahead of what the cool kids are doing…in fact, he is the ultimate….the king of the cool kids. He takes himself seriously but only just enough. Meet the stylist whose “art meets fashion” mentality is making waves.

What is it like living in Spain? Do you plan to stay there forever? Do you find the fashion scene there to be stimulating?
I am from Madrid (Spain) and I have been living here for the last 22 years. I love Madrid and the fashion scene that is happening is very stimulating. I have many artist friends that I find inspiring from day to day.
I would love to know, live and work in other cities all over the world. I believe that there is nothing more stimulating than forcing oneself out of the comfort zone every so often.

What is your relationship to the label Chromosome Residence? Do you support any other brands specifically?
I worked with Chromosome Residence for 2 years as ''designer assistant''. I helped with styling, model casting, creation of content on social networks... I felt loved, respected and valued from the first moment. That helped me to grow up and I learnt how a brand works from the beginning.
Since their 2017 September show, I decided that I needed to start a new stage as a stylist, so I had to leave Chromosome. But whenever I can, I give them the greatest possible support and I feel very lucky to have been part of such an exciting project.

I love so many new small and arty brands, for example I have a friend that made one of my fav collections called Sergio Castaño (@depuro); but for now, Chromosome is on the top of my ''supporting brands''.

If you could spend a day at Disney World in Orlando, Florida with anybody in the world, who would you choose? And what would you wear?
I would definitely go with my best friend from high-school, Marcos. He is the one that is behind my best artworks on Instagram. Every time I think of theme parks, what comes to my head is a ''retro'' scene so I would probably wear something with a cap and cow-boy boots, like a tank top and denim ankle pants hahaha!

What is the key piece to have this season? What fashion item should we all ditch from our closets?
I've been saying for about 2 years that the '' toreritas '' are going to come back stronger than ever! They are fine knit cardigans that remind me of the design of the bullfighter jackets - very short in the back and sometimes becoming a piece of cloth with two sleeves attached.

I usually say that in fashion ''anything goes'', so more than garments that I would toss in the trash, I would say trends that I hate today, without a doubt: ankles in the air with skinny trousers and suit shoes without socks.

What does your voice sounds like? Can you sing? Can you whistle? Do you dance?
I have met several people who knew me through social networks and the first time we de-virtualized, he commented that he had never expected my voice like that, hahaha.
Normally they say they expect it more acute, low and calm. I love music, I enjoy it and live it every day of my life, but the rhythm was not a gift that I was born with, I am a pity to sing and dance, so I am content to be just a fan of music.
