Kerr McIlwraith is a British artist best known for his illustrations. McIlwraith completed his Bachelor of Arts in Arts Marketing at Kingston University, Kingston upon Thames and is the founder of Pen etc. The following photos are from a series shot in an afternoon in Tokyo. The series was shot on colour positive film with a Japanese Olympus OM10.

“Sixten and I had just missed the train to Kawaguchiko (a small lakeside town at the base of Mount Fuji) due to a late night in Nonbei Yokocho (drunkards alley.) We were informed that the trains were only running once per day, so we had to change our plans. We wandered aimlessly around a variety of neighbourhoods which resulted in us stumbling upon Shinjuku Gyoen, an Edo period garden in the heart of Tokyo, following this we visited Shimokitazawa, Ometsando and the infamous Ginza district.”
— Kerr Mcilwraith
“All of the images have an almost nostalgic, and sentimental aura which perfectly captures the stark contrasts of Tokyo’s varying districts.”
