Manhattan

Manhattan

“Manhattan” is a project by documentary photographer Anastasiia Chorna. The Ukranian photographer’s series works as an ode to her current hometown of New York City. Her photographs carry her intrinsic awareness of architectural shapes and forms specific to Manhattan, specifically its immense verticality. The photos capture an ethereality both in lighting and in its narrative. One senses the momentary of contemporary New York urban culture, but rather than to expend upon its malleability and temporality, Chorna's work emphasizes the moment and archives it for viewers. “Manhattan” shows a deep appreciation for the city, its people and culture, and its historic architecture. Chorna plans to create a visual atlas of every nationality in the city.

“Falling in love with New York more and more. With every couple of months, I love New York dearly. My new home, my new country, that I am becoming proud of. My love letter to New York.”
