Prototypes FW26
Luxury is about saying no to some things. For Laura Beham and Callum Pidgeon, the people who started Prototypes this means they like to use things that other people throw away. Prototypes is a company based in Zurich and Paris. Since 2021 Laura Beham and Callum Pidgeon have been taking clothes that people do not want anymore and making them into new clothes that people want to wear today. They do not just reuse clothes they also make them look really good by using a specific style. Laura Beham and Callum Pidgeon like to work with clothes like sportswear, denim and uniforms. This helps them talk about how these clothes were used in the past and how they can be used now. Prototypes is, about making old clothes useful.
The Fall Winter 2026 collection is really something for the house. It is leaving behind things that do not last. Is focusing on clothes that are timeless and go all the way to the floor. The Fall Winter 2026 collection is about making good clothes like tailored suits and shirts and blouses. These clothes from the Fall Winter 2026 collection are made so the person wearing them can move around easily and feel in control. The way these clothes fit is very thoughtful. Made to make the wearer feel confident, without trying too hard. The Fall Winter 2026 collection is showing us how clothes can keep us safe and also make us feel seen.
The archive is really important to this collection. Prototypes looks at ideas and materials that were not used before. They take silhouettes that did not fit with the pace of fashion and give them a new chance. The way they do this is by hand. It takes a lot of work. For example they take silk scarves. Turn them into dresses. They also take floral duvets and make them into new structured things. They even take military clothes, vintage fur coats and prom dresses and completely remake them by hand. This way of doing things uses what already exists as a thing, not a problem. The ideas get better with time. Prototypes is, about taking what exists, like old materials and making something new out of them. The archive is full of ideas and materials that are waiting to be used. The work is really good because it does not go for things that're new just because they are new. The work gains depth because the work refuses the lure of the new. This is what makes the work have a lot of meaning.
This season, the visual narrative incorporates wigs, masks, and sunglasses. These elements introduce a sense of anonymity. This is not a retreat from the world, but a refusal to be easily consumed. The campaign, photographed in the label’s Paris studio near Place Vendôme, mirrors this sentiment. The setting is an abandoned office building, a quiet pocket within the fashion capital. Prototypes stays detached from the industry rhythm while remaining entirely visible. They exist in plain sight, choosing to lead through construction.
