A Charm of Powerful Trouble opens at ACUD Galerie on 23 July 2026, gathering eight artists whose practices favour the incomplete over the resolved. Anastasia Sosunova, Jingyi Li, Josefin Arnell, Raphaël Delannoy, Roger Muñoz, Florian ∞ Emden, Katie Shannon, and TLC23 arrive with fragments: broken narratives, unstable images, private gestures caught between concealment and disclosure. Whispering, confession, irony, and myth-making stand here not as ornament but as method, each one a quiet strategy for pushing back against what tries to settle into a single, tidy shape.
Trouble, in this exhibition, means something productive. It names a disturbance that refuses to let things stay fixed, a willingness to remain with what is partial, contradictory, or simply unfinished. What the artists offer instead is a kind of vitalised morphology, a way of reading living scraps and worn remains as material for a new and divergent synthesis, rather than debris to be cleared away.
Curated by Colette Patterson with visual identification by Charlotte Rohde, this show marks Act II of Tenants of Tender Armour, ACUD Galerie's ongoing exhibition series. It runs through 20 September 2026, with an extended programme during Berlin Art Week bringing readings, print culture, and live intervention into the space. Support comes from the Kemmler Foundation and the Lithuanian Culture Institute, with ACUD Galerie funded by the Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt.
