Conforma appears once a year, in hardcover. Everything about the schedule is deliberate. A single annual volume gives essays the length they require, gives photography a full page when a full page is warranted, and gives the editorial team time to return to a subject before it goes to print. Design and architecture are treated here as cultural matter, with the questions of form and responsibility that follow from that position.
From September 10 to 14, the magazine takes part in Factory, the designers' exhibition at the centre of Paris Design Week. Espace Commines gathers studios and independent practices across the building; Conforma keeps the mezzanine, open daily from 10am to 7pm.
The mezzanine runs a continuous soundscape across all five days, composed for the room and playing from open to close. Copies of the volume are available to read on site and to buy.
