Every summer, the village of Milo turns its face toward the sea and toward Etna, and for four days in August, it turns toward music. Opera Festival 2026 runs from the 20th to the 23rd, set against the black rock and green vineyards that ring Sicily's great volcano. This is a landscape built on contrast, fire below and orchards above, and the festival answers it with voices that carry across open air, under a sky that changes color by the hour.
Milo has long been a quiet town, known mostly to those who grow the wine that grows on volcanic soil. The festival gives it a second identity each August, one built on performance rather than harvest. Singers arrive from across Europe, stages rise in courtyards and on terraces facing the crater, and for four nights the town holds an audience that comes for opera and stays for the mountain itself.
