An unrealized project keeps its perfect form only while it stays unbuilt. The un—realized Art Prize argues that the risk of building it is worth taking, and on 27 August 2026 the first edition delivers its answer at Kunsthalle Bern.
The evening carries two announcements at once. The project awarded the Realization Prize becomes public for the first time, and the same project appears finished, in the room, ready to be walked around. The interval between decision and object, usually months of quiet production, collapses into a single night.
From six, guests gather on the upper floor with drinks and spend fifty minutes with the five shortlisted proposals by Pilar Quinteros, Roman Selim Khereddine, Kollektiv Haus Gawaling, Rafal Skozcek and Noah Krummenacher, the collective bringing together Lhaga Namlha Koondhor, Enantios Dromos, Rosario Bohío, Jovana Maksić, Caroline Ricca Lee and Jenna Sutela. iLiana Fokianaki opens the formal programme at seven, in the garden if the weather allows, followed by prize director Till Könneker.
The jury of Chus Martínez, Tasnim Baghdadi, Jasmine Gregory, Mitchell Anderson and Oskar Weiss honours the shortlist, delivers its statement, and names the winner at twenty past. Ten minutes later the realized work opens and the apéro carries the evening onward.
Five futures were possible. Bern will see which one took shape.
