Prada Frames MDW 2026

  • Complesso Santa Maria delle Grazie Via Caradosso Milano, Lombardia, 20123 Italy (map)

We live inside images. They move faster than thought, carry more authority than argument, and shape what people accept as real, yet fewer and fewer of them can be trusted to tell the truth. In Sight, the new installment of Prada Frames, takes this condition seriously.

The symposium positions the image not as decoration or communication tool, but as a force, one with cultural weight, political consequence, and a surprisingly heavy material footprint. Every photograph stored, every video rendered, every AI-generated frame produced draws on infrastructure: raw materials, energy, data centers, labor that rarely appears in the final picture. Visibility, it turns out, comes at a cost that stays largely hidden.

Over three days, lectures and conversations will trace the history of how images have shaped, and distorted, perception, examine the environmental and social price of digital visual culture, and probe the economies of attention that decide which images circulate and which disappear. The aim is not to produce answers so much as to insist on better questions.

In Sight takes place within the complex of Santa Maria delle Grazie in central Milan, a Renaissance site whose architecture and carved inlaid cabinets by Domenico and Francesco Morone offer a quietly insistent counterpoint to the disposability of the contemporary image. Small-group guided visits will allow participants to move through the space with attention, while a closing evening will open the symposium's key threads to a broader public, paired with a live music performance.
