Solomun at Alexandra Palace

Solomun’s upcoming takeover of Alexandra Palace’s Great Hall feels less like a scheduled stop and more like an inevitable milestone. Following a string of monumental performances at the Royal Palace of Belgium and the Théâtre Antique d’Orange, he returns to London to face one of the city's most demanding acoustic spaces. For an artist who treats every set as a narrative, the Victorian grandeur of Ally Pally provides the perfect canvas. It is a venue that requires more than just volume, it requires the precise, melodic stewardship that has made Solomun a global icon.

Alexandra Palace is a place for artists who make music that goes on for a long time and tells a story. When Four Tet performed there in 2019 and Jamie xx played a set in 2024 it showed that the hall is a place where people can be patient and really listen to the music. Now Solomun is going to perform at Alexandra Palace. He already knows how to use quiet and calm in his music. The remixes he did of Jamie xxs songs show that Solomun and Jamie xx think about music in a way they both like to build up to a big moment and then be quiet it is all, about the tension and the silence. Alexandra Palace is a place for Solomun to play because it is a place where people can really appreciate his music.

Solomuns performances are about listening just as much as they are about the music he selects. When it comes to techno and house music Solomun likes to focus on the melody. He thinks it is more important for the music to flow smoothly from one song, to the next than trying to make a big impact. People come to see Solomun because they know he does things this way. The music Solomun plays wants you to be present and really listen it does not want you to get distracted. If you are willing to get into the music and listen to the whole thing Solomuns music will be very rewarding. Solomuns music has a build up and if you stay with it you will really enjoy it.

Outside London, Solomun continues to define nights at Pacha Ibiza, while tour dates stretch across major European cities. Still, Alexandra Palace carries singular meaning. The venue asks artists to justify every minute. For Solomun, this demand aligns with a practice built on trust between performer and audience.
